Confidential University focused on the arts and culture, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is entering a new era through Vision 2030, with arts and culture at the center of its social and economic transformation. As part of this ambitious agenda, a new University has been established as the first university in the MENA region dedicated entirely to arts and culture. This pioneering institution will offer an unparalleled range of programs across theatre, film, music, literature, heritage, architecture, design, visual arts, and culinary arts, from vocational training through to doctoral research.
We are now seeking to appoint an exceptional academic leader to the inaugural position of Provost. This is a rare opportunity to play a founding role in shaping a university that aims to become a global hub for cultural education, knowledge exchange, and creative innovation. The Provost will provide strategic leadership for all academic activities across the University, reporting directly to the President and working closely with the Board of Trustees. You will lead the development and delivery of the University’s academic vision, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and research and embedding quality assurance processes that reflect international best practices.
The role will include responsibility for the recruitment and development of world-class faculty, the creation of interdisciplinary programs across four Schools and thirteen Colleges, and the cultivation of an inspiring and inclusive academic community. The Provost will foster partnerships with leading global institutions, promote cultural and scholarly exchange, and ensure that the University achieves its ambition to be ranked among the leading international institutions for cultural education. In addition, you will oversee academic budgets and revenue diversification initiatives, supporting the University’s long-term sustainability.
Candidates will hold a PhD and bring substantial senior academic leadership experience at Dean level or above, combined with a track record of shaping academic strategy and delivering excellence in research and education. You will demonstrate a deep understanding of global trends in cultural and creative education, a commitment to interdisciplinarity, and the ability to forge international collaborations and partnerships. A strong affinity for the cultural sector, alongside proven success in faculty recruitment and institutional development, will be essential.
This appointment offers an extraordinary opportunity to influence cultural education on a global scale and to help build an institution that will define the future of arts and culture in the region.
