Role Number: 8142
Join BRAC to create opportunities for people to realise their potential.
BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners with over 145 million people living with inequality and poverty globally to create sustainable opportunities to realise their potential. Our vision is a world free from exploitation and discrimination, where everyone has the opportunity to realise their potential. BRAC’s community-led, holistic approach is reflected in our integrated development model, bringing together social development programmes, microfinance, social enterprises, and ultra-poor graduation to drive lasting, systemic change. BRAC is born and proven in the south, and has become a world leader in developing and implementing cost-effective, evidence-based programmes at scale, with a particular focus on communities in marginalised, extremely poor or post-disaster settings across Asia and Africa.
BRAC has been a pioneer in microfinance since 1974. Expanding internationally in 2002, BRAC now operates across Asia and Africa, serving more than one million microfinance clients outside Bangladesh, 96% of whom are women. Access to responsible financial services is a central part of BRAC’s holistic approach to development, equipping people who would otherwise be excluded from formal financial systems with the tools to invest in themselves, their families, and their communities.
Entity Context (Sierra Leone):
BRAC Microfinance Sierra Leone Limited (BMSLL) is the largest microfinance institution in the country with 45 branches in 12 districts of the country. They provide responsible financial services to people who are excluded from the mainstream financial system, particularly focusing on women living in poverty in rural and hard-to-reach areas of the country. BRAC’s core products include group-based microloans for women, small enterprise loans, and agri-finance loans for smallholder farmers, complemented by financial and digital literacy training. Across all operations, adhering to the Universal Standards for Social and Environmental Performance Management and Client Protection Principles, placing clients’ wellbeing at the centre of everything they do.
BMSLL seeks a mission-driven, entrepreneurial Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead strategy, growth, and impact. The CEO will drive financial sustainability, operational excellence, and expanded outreach - advancing BRAC’s mission to economically empower women living in poverty, especially in rural and hard-to-reach communities.
The CEO will scale client outreach, strengthen field service delivery, mobilise local funding, and improve cost-efficiency. They will champion innovation, including agri-finance, youth products, and front-line delivery, while ensuring strong compliance with client protection and social performance standards. Working closely with the BRAC Sierra Leone Country Director and BRAC International Microfinance, the CEO will align microfinance operations with BRAC’s broader development strategy.

A collaborative and field-oriented leader, you will foster a culture of accountability, respect, and results; strengthen stakeholder relationships across government, investors, donors, and communities; and demonstrate a strong commitment to women’s empowerment and leadership.
