Corvinus University of Budapest is appointing professors in artificial intelligence as part of a coordinated cluster hire. The three new permanent positions sit in AI in Supply Chain Management, AI in Communication and AI in Energy.

Professor, AI in Supply Chain Management

The Role

This professorship brings AI into the heart of supply chain and operations research at Corvinus. The appointee will build research and teaching at the meeting point of Operations Research, Supply Chain Management and AI, working across the Institute's three departments.

The Institute welcomes a broad range of AI work, from methodological contributions to applied research, with particular interest in using AI to plan, control and design supply chains.

Research

1. Develop and lead an internationally visible research agenda in AI for supply chains and operations
2. Publish in leading international journals and secure external research funding
3. Build collaborations across the University and with international and industry partners

Teaching and supervision

1. Teach at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels, with room to shape new courses
2. Supervise PhD students and support early-career colleagues
3. Research-focused and balanced career tracks are available, agreed with the successful candidate

The Ideal Candidate

Academic career

1. PhD in operations research, supply chain management, computer science, engineering or a related field
2. Appointment at Associate or Full Professor level is preferred, and strong Assistant Professors with a clear path to promotion are encouraged to apply

Track record

1. Research expertise in Operations Research and/or Supply Chain Management, combined with strong knowledge of AI methods
2. A strong publication record in leading international journals
3. Experience of international research projects and externally funded research
4. Teaching experience and, ideally, PhD supervision

Personal attributes

1. A collaborative colleague who works easily across departments and disciplines
2. An international network and the energy to build new partnerships
3. Brings ideas to shared projects and to the Institute's wider research community
