Join BRAC International to create opportunities for people to realise their potential. A Force for Hope.

Are you passionate about transforming lives? BRAC International (BI), a leading global south development organisation, is on a mission to empower people and communities facing poverty, illiteracy, disease, and social injustice. Our vision is a world free from exploitation and discrimination, where everyone has the opportunity to realise their potential. We design proven, scalable integrated interventions that equip people with the tools, confidence, and support they need to succeed.

Founded in Bangladesh in 1972, BRAC has grown over five decades to become one of the world’s largest non-governmental organisations, reaching over 100 million people. Its first international operation began in Afghanistan in 2002, bringing lessons learned in Bangladesh to support communities recovering from conflict. Today, BRAC International operates across Asia and Africa, delivering locally-driven, evidence-based solutions with humility, courage, and a Southern perspective.

BRAC Uganda is one of Bl’s earliest and fastest-growing country programmes, delivering impact nationwide through integrated development and financial inclusion initiatives. With a team of nearly 700 staff—including approximately 550 frontline colleagues—and an annual portfolio of approximately $25 million, BRAC Uganda has established itself as a trusted partner to government, communities, donors, and development stakeholders.

We are seeking an exceptional Country Director to provide effective, values-driven leadership at a critical stage of growth in the country’s programs and across BI. This strategic role will be instrumental in stabilising the organisation, strengthening its culture, and positioning the new & existing programmes for sustainable, long-term impact. The Country Director will lead the senior management team, drive operational and strategic excellence, and play a key role in consolidating progress while rebuilding trust among stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, frontline-oriented leader who is decisive, culturally aware, and emotionally intelligent. They will bring experience managing large, complex teams in dynamic, high-growth environments, with a proven ability to lead through change and engaging a diverse group of stakeholders. A deep commitment to BRAC’s mission, values, and Southern-led leadership ethos is essential. Success in this role requires empathy, resilience, and a commitment to empowering communities at scale.

This is a unique long-term leadership opportunity to shape the future of BRAC Uganda and create meaningful, lasting change in the lives of millions.
