Chesterton Community College, an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ secondary school, is seeking an exceptional and values-driven Headteacher to lead one of the region’s highest-performing schools into its next phase of development. This is a rare opportunity to build on a strong foundation of academic excellence, inclusivity and innovation, while shaping a truly world-class education for young people in Cambridge.

Chesterton Community College sits at the heart of the Eastern Learning Alliance (TELA), a high-performing multi-academy trust of 11 schools serving communities across Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. TELA is recognised for its strong outcomes, inclusive ethos and sector-leading approach to staff development and wellbeing. The Trust combines clear, evidence-informed approaches, including shared curriculum resources, digital consistency and robust quality assurance, with genuine autonomy for schools to innovate and respond to their local context. As Headteacher, you will benefit from expert central support, strong peer networks and the opportunity to influence and learn from practice across the wider Trust.

Chesterton Community College is an ambitious and inclusive 11–18 school with a strong reputation for outcomes and ambition. The School’s vision of being World Class goes beyond examination success: it is about creating a community where every student thrives, belongs and is equipped to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Students are active participants in their learning, supported by high-quality teaching, rich experiences and a strong emphasis on leadership, global citizenship and personal development. Staff are equally valued, with a culture rooted in trust, professional growth and collaborative innovation.

The Headteacher will provide strategic and inspirational leadership for Chesterton Community College, building on its many strengths while leading the next stage of its journey towards becoming truly world-class. You will be responsible for the educational performance, culture, wellbeing and day-to-day leadership of the school, working closely with the Local Governing Body and TELA Executive Team. The role requires a leader who can articulate a compelling vision, sustain excellence in teaching and learning, champion equity and inclusion, and develop people at every level of the organisation.

We are seeking an ambitious and intellectually rigorous school leader with a proven track record of successful secondary leadership. You will be an outstanding communicator, able to inspire students, staff, families and partners, and confident in using evidence and data to drive improvement. Above all, you will share our belief in the transformative power of education and our commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a flagship school within a high-performing and values-led Trust, with the support and platform to make a lasting impact, both within Chesterton Community College and across the Eastern Learning Alliance.

The deadline for applications is 08:30 GMT on Friday 27th February.
