The Department of Engineering (DoE) at the University of Luxembourg is interdisciplinary and active in the classical domains of civil, electrical, mechanical, and computational engineering. The focus of research is on the development of technological solutions, the sustainable and economical use of all kinds of resources and the offer of competences for the technological requirements of industrial and public actors in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. Special emphasis is given to numerical simulation to reduce the required experimental effort, but the validation of the models on laboratory setups will remain an essential asset.

About the role
The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine of the University of Luxembourg is opening for its Department of Engineering (DoE), headed by Prof. Dr. Francesco Viti (francesco.viti@uni.lu), an Assistant / Associate Professor (depending on qualifications) position in Electrical Power Quality.
The role involves establishing a research group focused on secure energy transmission and electrical power quality. Addressing these fields requires a forward-looking vision where digital technologies and dependable grids are integrated. The application of machine learning and data analytics in innovative electrical power quality technologies, and reliable & efficient energy transmission supports the development of dependable grids and sustainable energy solutions, aligning with contemporary demands for robust and secure energy systems. The candidate will actively seek cooperation with researchers from within the Department, but also with researchers from other departments, faculties, and interdisciplinary centres, or external Luxembourgish research institutions.
The ideal candidate will establish a globally recognized research program showcasing expertise in domains such as:
> Electrical power quality and reliability.
> Security of energy transmission.
> Renewable energy integration.
The selected candidate should have relevant teaching experience and contribute to the teaching missions of the Department at various levels (Bachelor, Master, Ph.D.). This includes, for instance, at Bachelor level: “Basics of Electrical Engineering” and at Master level disciplines such as “Advanced Controls in Distributed Energy Production from Renewables” or “Efficient Energy Transport and Storage”. The successful candidate will also contribute to the supervision of theses at the various education levels and to doctoral and postdoctoral training. In addition, the candidate will have demonstrated their ability to carry out administrative duties.
The applicant should be open to interdisciplinary collaborations with both academic and industrial partners. Proven experience in engaging with industrial partners will be an asset.

> A strong track record in research, including contributions to their field and publications in top ranked journals/conference proceedings.
