Roedean is seeking an outstanding leader to become its next Head at a defining moment in the School’s history.

Founded in 1885 with a pioneering vision for girls’ education and awarded a Royal Charter in 1938, Roedean is a leading independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18, with boarders from more than 40 countries and a reputation for combining academic excellence with outstanding pastoral care and a rich co-curricular experience.

Situated on a spectacular coastal campus overlooking the sea, Roedean offers an educational environment unlike any other. From its 45-acre estate, school farm and extensive facilities to its vibrant partnership and philanthropic programmes, the School provides remarkable opportunities for young women to thrive as confident, compassionate and intellectually curious individuals.

The successful candidate will inherit a strong and united community, supported by an experienced Senior Leadership Team, a new committed Council (Board of Trustees) and a global network of engaged alumnae. Roedean has recently reaffirmed its commitment to remaining proudly independent and dedicated to girls’ only education, creating an exciting platform for its next phase of development and an opportunity to celebrate and enhance all which makes the School a truly special place.

This is an opportunity for a collaborative and strategic leader who can build on the School’s considerable strengths, while articulating a compelling vision for the future. Roedean achieves excellent academic outcomes, offers more than 100 co-curricular activities each week and is distinguished by its commitment to developing young women who are empowered, encouraged and engaged.

We seek a Head with the presence, resilience and ambition to lead in a rapidly changing educational landscape; someone who will champion the value of independent education, inspire students and staff, strengthen community engagement and ensure Roedean continues to flourish as one of the UK's most distinctive schools for girls.

For an individual excited by the prospect of leading a historic school with a bold future, this is an exceptional opportunity.
