UCD is Ireland’s leading university in artificial intelligence, underpinned by state-of-the-art infrastructure and more than €65 million secured in research funding over the past five years. Nearly 200 academics and researchers identify AI as a core focus of their research and teaching, spanning 28 Schools across all six of UCD’s Colleges. The scale and momentum of this activity have led to a commitment of the establishment of the UCD AI Institute. The Institute will connect, coordinate and amplify these efforts, enabling closer collaboration among researchers and providing a single, accessible hub for public and private sector partners. 


UCD now seeks to appoint an Academic Director of the UCD AI Institute and Professor of Artificial Intelligence. This is an opportunity for an internationally recognised academic leader with a proven record of leading cross-disciplinary initiatives at scale. The successful candidate will bring a distinguished research and teaching profile in AI, from any disciplinary perspective, and will shape the Institute through transformative leadership, fostering a vibrant research culture, innovative curricula, and success in securing prestigious national and international funding.
