The School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS) at Queen’s University Belfast is a premier institution in the UK and Ireland, recognised for its world-class education and research. As the first academic institution in Northern Ireland to hold a Regius Professorship, the School is a critical driver of the regional economy and a hub for global investment. The School hosts five world-leading research centres, including the UK’s leading Innovation & Knowledge Centre for Cyber Security (CSIT) and the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI), and maintain over 500 active industry partnerships with global giants such as Rolls Royce, IBM, and Thales.
EEECS has more than 2,280 students across undergraduate, postgraduate taught, and postgraduate research programmes, supported by a diverse, international staff community representing over 70 countries. The School of EEECS is a hub for cutting-edge research in areas such as cybersecurity, wireless communications, artificial intelligence, power electronics, robotics, intelligent control, and sensor-based systems, as well as making a significant contribution to the University’s 3 Innovation Centres.
We are seeking a Head of School who is a transformative leader capable of evolving the schools exceptional research foundations and dynamic curriculum through innovation and aspiration. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and delivery of a dynamic, cohesive and ambitious strategic plan for the school centred on a vision of inventing tomorrow today!
As a member of the Faculty Management Committee, the Head of School reports to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Engineering and Physical Sciences). The ideal candidate will be an academically distinguished leader in a relevant disciple to the School with deep insight into the evolving higher education sector, who complements existing research strengths, introduces new pedagogical perspectives, and builds strong industry partnerships through exceptional networking and influence. They will inspire excellence, lead cultural change, and ensure all staff and students can reach their full potential.
