UAL is currently ranked second globally for Art and Design. UAL has existed in its current form since 1986, but its origins date from the 19th century, and it currently has over 21,000 students from 130 countries.


UAL is made up of six renowned colleges: Camberwell College of Arts, Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion and Wimbledon College of Arts. It has also developed four innovative interdisciplinary institutes: UAL Creative Computing Institute, UAL Social Design Institute, AKO Storytelling Institute and the UAL Decolonising Arts Institute and has recently launched UAL Online. We have a dedicated school for pre-degree studies, the UAL Awarding Body, UAL Arts Temps, a social enterprise recruitment agency and UAL Short Courses.

UAL’s governors have overall responsibility for the strategic direction, educational character and financial sustainability of the University. Governors apply their high-level professional skills, knowledge and experience to ensure that UAL’s strategy evolves and that it continues to offer a world-leading education in the creative arts.


At this time, we are seeking two exceptional individuals to join Court:

  1. A Deputy Chair, who will Chair the Remuneration Committee;
  2. A Governor, who will bring significant expertise within Higher Education, either as a former Vice-Chancellor or member of an executive leadership team.
