Set on a beautiful 21-acre site in Northwood, St Helen’s School is a vibrant, forward-thinking independent day school where ambition meets opportunity. Known for its warm, inclusive community and academic excellence, St Helen’s empowers over 1,100 girls from nursery to sixth form to explore their passions, challenge themselves, and thrive. With outstanding teaching, state-of-the-art facilities, and a strong commitment to wellbeing, the School nurtures confident, curious leaders ready to make their mark on the world.

St Helen’s is entering a significant new chapter in its history under the leadership of the new Head, Mrs Bridget Ward. A new 2025–2030 strategy is underway which includes a transformational bursary programme, ongoing investment in the School’s exceptional facilities, and a continued commitment to innovative education for girls.

The St Helen’s Governors provide vital oversight of the School’s management and strategy, ensuring our ambitions remain aligned with our ethos and supporting the development of young women ready to make a positive impact. We have been fortunate to benefit from the dedication of several long-serving Governors who are now coming to the end of their terms. As such, we are now seeking a number of new Governors including a Finance Governor to chair the Finance and Operations Committee, and an Enterprises Governor to chair the Enterprises Committee. We welcome applications from candidates with a wide range of skills and experiences and are particularly interested in those with strategic expertise in finance and operations, and marketing and business operations.

The time commitment expected for this role is c. 1.5 days per month. Outside of formal Board meetings, this will be flexible and in line with the requirements of the role.

The closing date for applications is 08:30 BST on Thursday 16th October 2025.

St Helen’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and the Board expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidates must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post.
