Corvinus University of Budapest is appointing professors in artificial intelligence as part of a coordinated cluster hire. The three new permanent positions sit in AI in Supply Chain Management, AI in Communication and AI in Energy.

Professor, AI in Energy

The Role

This professorship will build research and teaching on digitalisation and AI in the energy sector. The appointee will lead research at the meeting point of AI, energy systems, energy economics and regulation, and help grow Corvinus's participation in European research programmes such as Horizon Europe.

Research

1. Develop and lead an internationally visible research agenda in digitalisation and AI for the energy sector
2. Publish in leading international journals and initiate and lead international research projects, including Horizon Europe consortia
3. Build collaborations across the University and with leading European research institutions, industry and regulators

Teaching and supervision

1. Teach mainly at Master's level
2. Help develop a new joint Master's programme in energy, launching in 2028 in partnership with two other leading Hungarian universities
3. Supervise PhD students and support early-career colleagues

The Ideal Candidate

Academic career

1. PhD in a relevant field from a highly ranked university
2. Appointment from Assistant to Full Professor level, depending on experience

Track record

1. In-depth knowledge of digitalisation and AI in the energy sector, including energy economics or energy regulation
2. A strong publication record in leading international journals
3. Experience of managing international research projects
4. International experience, in academia or industry, in AI applications for energy or in energy regulation
5. Familiarity with network regulation or cybersecurity in the energy sector, and teaching experience at highly ranked universities, are an advantage

Personal attributes

1. A collaborative colleague who works easily across institutes and disciplines
2. A strong international network, particularly with Western European research institutions
3. The drive to build new research partnerships and funding bids
