Massey University is one of Aotearoa New Zealand's leading universities and a long-established leader in distance and online education. With campuses in Auckland, Manawatū and Wellington, and learners studying across the country and around the world, Massey is distinguished by its commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, its teaching and research of national and international consequence. As it delivers its 2026 Strategy through a newly configured Executive Leadership Team, the University is focused on growing participation, strengthening student outcomes and extending its educational reach.
We are seeking an outstanding and strategically minded leader to serve as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Students and Growth. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this newly established role will lead the University's student success, growth and educational reach agenda, providing strategic leadership across the full student lifecycle and across on-campus, online and transnational education.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Students and Growth will drive sustainable growth in student participation, champion an integrated student experience from attraction and recruitment through to achievement and lifelong connection, and advance equity of access and success for Māori, Pacific and other diverse learner communities. Working in close partnership with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, the role will ensure the University's educational offerings and delivery channels remain responsive to learner, community and workforce needs. The ideal candidate will bring significant leadership experience in a complex, learner- or customer-centred organisation, with a demonstrable record of developing and delivering growth strategies across multiple channels and markets, and of leading large-scale student experience, recruitment and engagement portfolios. A genuine commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, sound commercial and data-informed judgement, and the ability to build trusted relationships with schools, iwi, industry, government and international partners are essential, as are exceptional communication and influencing skills.
