Accelerating the transition to net zero. Using the law to scale solutions and value.

The Net Zero Lawyers Alliance (NZLA) is a global network of commercial law firms working to align legal services and frameworks with the net zero transition. Since launching at COP26, our membership has grown to more than 40 firms with coverage across 40 jurisdictions. The NZLA mobilises commercial lawyers, law firms, and the law to accelerate the transition to net zero by aligning legal services and existing laws with net zero to help deliver on the Paris Agreement. Our ultimate goal is to mobilise commercial law, commercial law firms and commercial lawyers to accelerate a just and equitable transition to net zero.

As NZLA moves into its next phase of growth, it is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to provide the strategic and operational leadership needed to deepen its impact, broaden its membership and influence, and ensure the legal profession continues to play its full part in delivering a net zero, climate-resilient economy.

The CEO holds overall responsibility for delivering on the NZLA’s mission through its projects, activities and relationships. Working with the Board, the CEO sets direction, secures the funding to deliver it, represents NZLA to members, funders and the wider climate and legal community, and leads the team and committees that deliver NZLA's programmes. The incoming CEO will inherit a talented team, a diverse portfolio of activities, engaged members and a clear three-year direction, with the mandate to consolidate what has been built and to further grow NZLA's reach and impact. This is a builder-operator role: equal parts strategic leadership, fundraising, external representation and hands-on delivery oversight.

The incoming CEO will be a senior leader with a track record of building programmes or organisations and securing significant funding, who can credibly represent NZLA to senior stakeholders. You will bring deep knowledge of both the climate and legal sectors, sound judgement, and strategic vision underpinned by a genuine passion and commitment to accelerating the transition to net zero.

To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter, detailing how you fulfil the role description and personal specification to www.perrettlaver.com/candidates quoting reference 8562.
