Dedicated to building a more prosperous, thriving and sustainable future for Asia.

Asia is home to some of the world's most vulnerable ecosystems and populations, already facing the harsh realities of climate change – extreme weather and rising seas among them. At the same time, it is also a major contributor to global carbon emissions, accounting for nearly half of the world's total. Despite the grave urgency of combating global climate change, less than 2% of global philanthropic funding is currently directed towards climate mitigation. Moreover, only a fraction of this funding is allocated to initiatives focused on Asia.

Established in Singapore in 2021, Tara Climate Foundation is a philanthropic initiative dedicated to fostering a future where Asia’s unwavering commitment to climate action paves the way for just, thriving and resilient societies. Tara Climate operates in East, Southeast and South Asia, excluding India and China with a team of over 55 experts spread across the region, working to combat climate change. Tara partners with funders to align resources and regrant funds to implementing organisations, and builds networks with experts, purpose-driven organisations and other key stakeholders to promote meaningful debates, knowledge exchange and collaboration. Tara has already provided grants to more than 300 organisations across 13 countries and jurisdictions and over the last two years has significantly increased its funding base with more than 20 philanthropic funders supporting its work.

Tara Climate is now seeking a strategic, high-performing leader to join as its Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, to help lead Tara’s next phase of growth, by deepening and expanding philanthropic relationships that are key to the organisation’s long-term sustainability. Working closely with the CEO, the leadership team and colleagues across the foundation, this role will cultivate and seek partnerships with new funders, manage a diverse portfolio of funders, lead proposal development and partner with finance and programme teams to enhance reporting, accountability and stewardship.

The ideal candidate will bring an excellent track record of experience in a funder relations role, developing and executing fundraising and stewardship strategies, or a similarly transferable skillset. Experience working for, or with philanthropic foundations and INGOs will be valuable. The successful candidate will demonstrate superb verbal and written communication skills in English, with financial acumen and project management skills. They will bring the ability to work effectively in a high pressure and fast-paced environment, and whilst experience working in energy or climate change is not essential, there must be a genuine interest in the issue and an ability to learn the field quickly. A resourceful and proactive individual, you will be able to work with professionalism and discretion.

Qualifications: You will bring an advanced degree or relevant expertise in a field such as public policy, communications, business administration, environment and sustainability.

If you are excited by the prospect of joining a dynamic and fast-growing international organisation with a mission to solve the climate crisis, then Tara Climate wants to hear from you.
