About UTN

The 4th industrial revolution is defined by digitization, advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and the networking of value creation across science, engineering, business and society. Universities can contribute to this value creation through interdisciplinary research, impactful transfer, and education that strengthens the technical skills base and our democracies. UTN was founded to become such a major contributor, both nationally and internationally. To fulfil this mission, UTN will reinterpret traditional scientific disciplines, reshape work and administration environments, and offer student-centric learning.

Two central bodies currently govern UTN: the Founding Executive Board and the Founding Steering Board, to which the two Founding Vice President roles will now be added. UTN’s academic organization is based on departments as its central structural units. There are currently two departments, the Department of Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence and the Department of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences. In the coming years, UTN is planning to establish three additional departments; Departments of Biological Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering and Natural Sciences.

The Role

The Founding Vice President for Digitization will play a pivotal role in the University’s future digitization process and digital campus and will report directly to the Founding President. It is expected that she/he will develop a digital agenda to help make the UTN a leader in digitization in the university sector. The successful candidate will lead the university on all aspects of digitization, collaborating with other members of the Founding Executive Board, the CIO, the Department Chairs and others to grow the amount and quality of research, education and transfer across UTN.
