Advancing Forest Landscape Restoration – A New Platform for Impact
Forest Action Facility (FAF) is a platform dedicated to unlocking large-scale finance for Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) across deforested and degraded landscapes worldwide. Through transparent and competitive open tender calls, FAF channels funding to high-impact restoration initiatives that regenerate ecosystems, strengthen climate resilience, and support sustainable livelihoods.
Established in December 2024 by KfW and IUCN as a Company Limited by Guarantee under English law, with its registered office in London, FAF represents a strong partnership between leading global institutions committed to climate and biodiversity action. In July 2025, FAF was officially registered with the UK Charity Commission, reinforcing its public-benefit mission and governance standards.
We are seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer to build and lead FAF from the ground up. This is not a role to inherit — it is a rare opportunity to create. You will establish the Secretariat, put in place strong governance and operational systems, recruit and inspire a high-performing team, and work closely with the Board to translate vision into measurable impact. You will oversee programme and grant delivery, ensure organisational integrity and compliance, and lead ambitious fundraising across philanthropic, public, and blended finance streams.
The ideal candidate combines strategic clarity with operational depth. You bring (senior) leadership experience in a charity or mission-driven organisation, sound knowledge of UK governance frameworks, and a proven track record of securing funding from diverse sources. You are confident operating in complexity, able to assess risk, build consensus, and guide decisions in evolving political environments. Spanish language skills are essential and experience in Latin America is highly desirable.
This is a rare opportunity to pair bold strategic vision with hands-on delivery, turning ambition into measurable impact where it matters most. With a genuine passion for forest restoration, climate, and resilience, you will be a compelling advocate and trusted external voice for the organisation. Above all, you are driven by purpose over profile — energised by the challenge of building something credible, impactful, and built to endure.
