The University is presently seeking a distinguished academic leader to serve as Provost, a critical appointment within its Executive Leadership Team. As the University’s principal academic, the Provost will champion academic excellence across all disciplines, working in strategic partnership with the Vice-Chancellor and senior colleagues to drive institutional performance and shape the University’s global positioning. Importantly, the Provost will work with and support the University Deans in developing faculty to achieve the highest standards of excellence and impact. The successful candidate will champion academic rigour, foster innovation in academic programmes, and ensure our institution maintains its position as a beacon of intellectual and public spirited leadership.
This role demands visionary and resilient leadership anchored in a highly evidence-based and analytical approach to advance the University's academic endeavour while ensuring its agility, future-orientation, and responsiveness to technological, societal, and pedagogical shifts. The Provost will foster a truly collaborative, inclusive academic culture that empowers and nurtures talent, ensuring that the University's values are reflected in every aspect of academic enterprise. Candidates will possess a track record of senior academic leadership in research-intensive universities of similar scale and complexity, exceptional judgement, a nuanced understanding of both Australian and global higher education dynamics, and a strong capacity to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated success in leading change, executing strategic initiatives, and upholding the highest standards of academic and operational integrity will be essential, along with a deep commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
