The Faculty has a student community which consists of nearly 8,500 students who are supported by around 500 leading scientists and educators. It delivers a wide range of courses for talented aspiring clinicians and health professionals in partnership with KCL’s NHS partners, including Guy’s & St Thomas’s Hospital, including the Royal Brompton & Harefield hospitals, and King’s College and St Thomas’ Hospitals.
The Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine seeks to appoint a new Head of School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences. The School provides an outstanding multidisciplinary environment for the pursuit of cutting-edge cardiovascular and metabolic research, spanning the fundamental molecular, cellular, and physiological processes that underlie normal and abnormal cardiovascular and metabolic function and drive the translation of this strong basic science into advances in clinical practice. The successful candidate will have significant strategic input into the Guy’s and St Thomas’s cardiovascular clinical group, responsible for the clinical service delivered in the NHS Trust.
In addition to the Head of School position, the role holder will be appointed to a permanent Professorial position in the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences. The role holder will be a clinical academic, with an excellent grasp of the full range of academic activities from basic science through to clinical translation.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding academic of international reputation and an experienced strategic leader with an understanding and appreciation of the breadth of research conducted within the School.
