Agora Think Tanks is a mission-driven non-partisan think tank, independent of corporate and political interests, creating feasible and science-based policy proposals for decarbonising all sectors of the economy: power, transport, buildings, industry, and agriculture. Climate neutrality calls for fast and profound reforms in all sectors of the economy; consequently, our work addresses the entire range of necessary transformations.
Our roots lie in Germany and Europe, but we think and act globally. Together with our growing global network of partner think tanks we combine the strengths of local expertise and international experience to provide unique counsel to decision-makers. We currently operate with an interdisciplinary and international team of ~200 diverse staff based in our offices in Berlin, Brussels, Bangkok and Beijing.
At this critical time for the global climate agenda, Agora is now seeking a new outstanding CEO. Jointly with the Managing Director, the new CEO will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the organisation, working with the Supervisory Board and the senior management team. The CEO will further develop Agora by increasing its impact and engaging with policy-makers, donors, academia and other key stakeholders as its primary representative.
The CEO will be a visionary and strategic mind, with a proven track record of successful leadership, ideally gained in a global, impactful and multi-faceted organization. They will offer a strong understanding of energy and climate policy, and the key players in the ecosystem, a global outlook, and will have built and nurtured impactful partnerships across sectors and stakeholders. The successful candidate will follow an inspirational, adaptive and empowering approach to lead our diverse team of high-calibre experts, will have excellent communications skills, and most of all, show clear commitment to our mission.

The role can be based in any of Agora’s offices in Berlin, Brussels or Bangkok. Although working remotely is common at Agora, frequent travel to the Berlin headquarters is essential, in addition to regular international travel.
The salary will be commensurate with the seniority of the position. The position includes the ability to work in a full- or part-time capacity.
