The Monash Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is one of the top Chemical Engineering Departments in Australia. We are active in both undergraduate teaching and postgraduate research and have an international reputation for quality research programs and postgraduate training. We maintain strong links with engineering professionals and professional bodies to ensure our programs remain at the leading edge of professional practice. This ensures we have a vibrant research culture, with key research areas in; Biotechnology, Food, Process modelling, Nanomaterials, Fuels and Energy, CO2 utilisation, Waste processing, Critical minerals and Membranes.


The Opportunity


The next Head of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering will bring dynamic leadership experience, strategic vision, collegiality, and an ability to inspire colleagues. The appointee will be an outstanding scholar and generous academic who has made substantial contributions to knowledge in their field. This person will help to foster interdisciplinary thematic research, innovative education offerings that appeal to the students of tomorrow, and engagement with industry and government that leverages the Department’s strengths to have impact solving many of the most pressing problems our society faces. Candidates will also need to demonstrate an ability to contribute as a member of the Faculty’s leadership team and have a strong alignment with the direction of the Monash Faculty of Engineering.
