The King’s School has been educating children in Chester for more than 480 years. Blending tradition with 21st century innovations to offer an outstanding education, King’s is consistently the top-performing school in Cheshire for academic results, receiving the North West Independent School of the Year in The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide in 2024, Gold standard in the School Mental Health Award (Carnegie Centre of Excellence) in 2024, and the AGBIS School of the Year for Governance in 2025. The School provides a vibrant and holistic educational environment which inspires passionate and collaborative learners to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.

The Governors now seek an inspiring Head to succeed George Hartley after eight years of exceptional service, where the School is ranked among the best schools in the Northwest. This individual will inherit an ambitious and inclusive School that has seen strong investment and development in recent years.

The next Head of King’s will be a visionary and engaging leader who can drive strategic impact. Whilst the School enjoys a strong financial position, the next Head will need to navigate and respond to changes in an increasingly competitive market. With a balance of tradition and innovation, King’s combines academic rigour, personal development, and strong community values, which the next Head will champion.

The deadline for applications is 08:30 BST on Monday 13th October.
