Building a more prosperous and sustainable future for Asia.

Asia is home to some of the world's most vulnerable ecosystems and populations, already facing the harsh realities of climate change – extreme weather and rising seas among them. At the same time, it is also a major contributor to global carbon emissions, accounting for nearly half of the world's total. Despite the grave urgency of combating global climate change, less than 2% of global philanthropic funding is currently directed towards climate mitigation. Moreover, only a fraction of this funding is allocated to initiatives focused on Asia.

Tara Climate Foundation is an Asia-based philanthropic organisation committed to building a more sustainable and prosperous future for the region. At the heart of our mission lies Asia’s just energy transition – recognising that with half the world’s population and the fastest-growing energy demand, the region’s progress will shape the world’s collective future.

Established in 2021 and headquartered in Singapore, Tara Climate Foundation works with close to 400 partners across 12 Asian geographies, including think tanks, research institutes, advisory groups, community organisations and associations.

Tara provides grants, convenes stakeholders, and facilitates knowledge-sharing to accelerate clean energy development, drive a just transition, and enable clean industrialisation. Underpinning these efforts is a strong commitment to unlocking sustainable finance, supporting climate goals, and aligning business action with a people-centred energy transition. Our team of over 60 experts is spread across the Asia-Pacific region, working to accelerate climate action in this decisive decade.

Tara is now seeking a Regional Diplomacy Lead. Reporting to the Director, Regional Diplomacy and working closely with Tara’s country and regional teams, the Regional Diplomacy Lead will develop and deliver a multi-faceted strategy across bilateral, regional and multilateral forums, identifying emerging opportunities and catalytic engagements across climate, energy and trade diplomacy.

The ideal candidates will bring significant experience of diplomacy, international policy negotiations and strategic engagement in Asia, with civil service or diplomatic experience within an Asian government particularly valuable. They will have a strong understanding of the diplomatic landscape across Asia – with exposure to multilateral processes such as the G20, G7, BRICS or APEC highly advantageous. A sophisticated relationship-builder and strategic thinker, they will be equally comfortable engaging senior government stakeholders and civil society, able to navigate complex political environments with judgement, discretion and cultural sensitivity.

Above all, the ideal candidates will share Tara’s vision to build a prosperous, sustainable future for Asia and be motivated by the opportunity to use strategy, diplomacy, partnerships and philanthropy to make a meaningful difference at a critical moment for the Asian region.

If you are excited by the prospect of joining a dynamic international organization dedicated to accelerating a just clean energy transition in Asia, then Tara Climate Foundation wants to hear from you.
