Lifebox is a global nonprofit dedicated to improving the safety of surgery and anesthesia worldwide. Founded by the creators of the World Health Organization Surgical Safety Checklist, Lifebox works alongside healthcare providers, ministries of health, professional societies, and partners to strengthen surgical systems and improve patient outcomes in resource-limited settings.
Lifebox now seeks an exceptional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization through its next phase of growth and impact. This is a rare opportunity to build upon a strong foundation of technical credibility, measurable results, and global partnerships while significantly expanding the organization’s reach, influence, and resource base. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based programs across diverse international contexts, drive organizational development, cultivate major philanthropic and institutional funding relationships, and strengthen global partnerships. The CEO will serve as Lifebox’s principal ambassador, engaging with donors, governments, multilateral institutions, professional societies, and healthcare leaders worldwide.
The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated track record of leading complex organizations, securing major philanthropic and institutional funding, and building high-performing teams capable of delivering impact across multiple geographies. Experience in global health, healthcare delivery, international development, or a related field is essential, as is a deep commitment to health equity and strengthening access to safe surgical care. The role has a flexible location, and global locations will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with a preference for North America, Europe and Africa. Flexibility and international travel will be required.
The expected salary range is $180,000-$220,000 USD.
