Associate Professor / Assistant Professor /Research Assistant Professor

We are seeking to recruit computational linguistics experts to contribute to our academic and research endeavours.


The appointees will contribute to enhancing the University's research capacity and impact on the relevant strategic research theme(s). Responsibilities mainly include: (i) conducting high-quality research, and generating scholarly publications or other significant research outputs; (ii) initiating and supporting research projects and securing external research grants to enhance domain impact; (iii) providing instruction at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels as part of the teaching faculty if appropriate; (iv) engaging in research-related activities with colleagues and Research Postgraduate students.


Applicants should have a PhD degree in computational linguistics, computer science (with a focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP)), linguistics, or a closely related field. Strong research experience and training in large language models (LLMs), computational linguistics, natural language processing (NLP), machine learning for language, visualisation of linguistic data, text mining, social media data analysis, or related areas are highly valued. Applicants should be active researchers with proven capacity and potential. Some teaching experience and a commitment to excellence in teaching is an asset.


Applicants for (Research) Assistant Professor should possess evidence of scholarship, research, and publications in the relevant field(s). Applicants for Associate Professor should possess evidence of strong research output and publication in relevant field(s) and a strong research track record and impact. The appointee may be required to travel outside of Hong Kong and undertake work including teaching duties as assigned by the University, where necessary.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.


Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Start-up research grant will be provided. Fringe benefits include the University’s Voluntary Contributions to MPF Scheme or a contract-end lump sum payment (totaling up to 15% of the basic salary), leave, medical and dental benefits, and, where applicable, housing benefits.
