The University is seeking an outstanding leader in Blood Cancer Research to become the inaugural Leukaemia Foundation Tony Fini Chair in Blood Cancer, based within either the School of Biomedical Science or UWA Medical School. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of blood cancer research and drive national and global progress through world-class research, collaboration and translation. The Chair, secured through a generous, endowed donation, will have the platform to build an enduring programme of research and make a lasting contribution to the field.
As Chair, you will provide intellectual and strategic leadership to an ambitious research agenda advancing the understanding, prevention, detection, diagnosis or treatment of blood cancer and related disorders. UWA welcomes candidates with deep expertise in one or more areas of significant opportunity, including prevention, early detection, diagnostics, precision medicine, discovery or translational research, across adult or paediatric blood cancers. You will bring an internationally excellent research profile, demonstrated success in securing competitive funding and a strong record of high-quality outputs, together with the influence and collaborative approach to build partnerships across academia, clinical practice, government, industry, professional bodies and philanthropy.
The successful candidate will be an exceptional academic and team leader, with a recognised doctoral qualification and an outstanding record in blood cancer or related disorders research. You will have demonstrated success in building and mentoring high-performing research teams, developing emerging talent and translating complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences. You will champion the highest standards of research integrity and governance, while engaging meaningfully with consumers, communities and the broader Western Australian health and research ecosystem. Above all, you will bring the vision, credibility and ambition to establish a sustainable, internationally recognised research programme and create a legacy in blood cancer research.
